BANANAS is an Oakland based nonprofit child care resource committed to the community through supporting families and child care providers to raise young learners and future leaders.

Creative Process

Honoring the existing brand guidelines I provide updated marketing materials from social media graphics to direct mailings to engage current clients and future supporters.

Giving Tuesday & Annual Giving Campaigns:
The fundraising campaigns saw a marked increase in donations from previous years. Giving Tuesday donations increased more than 182% from $15,459 (2020) to $43,566 (2021). The Annual Campaign donations increased more than 110% from $47,440 (2020) to $100,061 (2021). I’m proud to have created the materials for the 2021 campaigns.

Icons

The organization hosts food and supply distribution events to support the community. I created icons for the print and digital marketing materials that went out to the community to inform them of this valuable resource.

Logo & Identity

Background: BANANAS was formed by 10 mothers who were looking to find a playgroup for their kiddos. They were all going bananas trying to find child care. From that, many conversations bloomed and slowly but surely BANANAS was created. Hence our name for this society: The Founding Mother’s Society.

Design: The logo retains the main BANANAS colors while adopting a more timeless look. I incorporated 10 stars into the design to pay homage to the number of founding mothers. Pins were created for the various donor levels that were assigned to significant milestones in BANANAS history.

Editing & Graphics

Connecting to an audience through storytelling is crucial for any nonprofit. The human element brings value to the brand and encourages people to want to know more. Bringing narratives alive through video is one of the main goals of the marketing strategy. I’ve paired my graphics experience with self-taught editing skills to create video content for fundraising campaigns and a 2-hour virtual event that was in-person before 2020.

My experience with Carree has been nothing short of incredible. Her knowledge of both graphic design and video editing provided a valuable perspective to our branding and fundraising campaigns. Carree understands when to take lead on projects, while simultaneously working in her team.
